Bachelor´s of International Management
The trend towards globalization continues across all industries. Even small and medium-sized enterprises are increasingly operating in international markets. For this reason, the need for internationally oriented management trainees is increasing.
The Bachelor's degree program in International Management at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences at the Bocholt campus qualifies you for leading management positions in international business. As a graduate of this degree program, you will be able to represent the worldwide locations of your future company in the best possible way and possess linguistic and intercultural competence for your work in international teams. You will manage international departments, understand transnational business transactions and move confidently on the international stage.
We provide you with a comprehensive business education that focuses on management and marketing across all industries, without losing sight of the international perspective. This is demonstrated not only by the obligatory semester abroad but also by projects in which you work on international issues from practice.
Structure and Content of the Study Program
The program consists of two three-semester study phases. In the first phase, you will learn about business and economic contexts as well as the elementary methods and instruments for business decision-making. Here, subjects such as accounting, economics and business mathematics are on the timetable. Already in the first study phase, the international orientation is realized through modules such as German and International Business Law or International Financial Management.
The second study phase, which takes place almost entirely in English, has a stronger international focus. Here you can expect courses such as International Management or International Marketing. In addition, there are economic aspects in the International Economics module. International practical elements are incorporated through project work in cooperation with the business world. As a rule, you will spend the fifth semester at one of the partner universities abroad or at a university of your choice. In addition to the courses in Business English and the courses held in English, a second foreign language can be integrated or the knowledge of English can be further deepened.
The final semester begins with the 14-week practical phase in a company and concludes with the 10-week bachelor's thesis, in which you apply your acquired specialist knowledge independently and on your own responsibility.
Career Prospects
The proportion of companies of all sectors and sizes that operate internationally is growing every day. Worldwide sales channels and production facilities abroad promote cooperation in international teams. The job market for junior managers therefore demands - in addition to professional qualifications - the ability to move confidently in an international environment. Against this background, the program prepares you to fill international management positions in a qualified manner.
Your future workplace will be in a wide variety of industries - practically in any company that is already directly or indirectly active abroad or will be in the future. Through your broad basic knowledge and your specialization in marketing and management issues, the areas of sales, PR, purchasing, sales, logistics, marketing, corporate management, and many more are possible future fields of employment.
Whether you start with a trainee program or choose direct entry as a prospective product manager, key account manager, purchasing manager or marketing manager - the demand for internationally oriented management trainees is not yet covered. A wide range of career prospects are open to you.
