Master´s of Business Engineering
The Master´s of Business Engineering aims to give students the necessary know-how to manage companies or divisions, particularly in the production industry. It seeks to impart the following skills:
- Management willingness
- Planning abilities
- Organisational skills
- Understanding of technical contexts
- Negotiating skills.
In addition to the above, personal development and an understanding of external issues are also encouraged. The Masters course is an extension course; it builds on from the Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, enriching and deepening students’ existing knowledge. It particularly teaches skills in designing and planning company processes.
Structure and Content of the Study Program
The Master of Business Engineering builds on the knowledge obtained from the Bachelor of Industrial Engineering. Students acquire more in-depth knowledge of business or departmental management methods, imparted through the “Production management” and “Special fields of quality assurance” modules. The international process design component is taught through the “International technical management” and “International supply chain management” modules, while the content of the “Special fields of manufacturing technology”, “Plant automation” and “Product development” modules includes selected technical skills. Other course modules relate to management-based qualifications such as HR management and contracting, as well as academic components like numerical methods, simulation, and scientific work as the basis for the aforementioned modules.
This specialised knowledge can be furthered as part of three elective modules. Instead of classic lecture-style elective modules, these can also be completed as term projects. The Master’s thesis conclusively demonstrates the students’ ability to work in a scientific and application-oriented manner, ideally in co-operation with an industrial company
Career Prospects
Graduates are able to perform tasks involving planning company processes, controlling or establishing quality assurance systems. As such, they can find employment at companies manufacturing mechanical and plant engineering products. These companies are considered innovative in terms of said products, but require the help of our graduates when it comes to business administration.
Many companies have a strong focus on export markets, and international contacts are a matter of course for managers.
