Bachelor´s of Industrial Engineering and Management
The degree programme in Industrial Engineering & Management – which is held entirely in German language - has an interdisciplinary orientation and is geared to the requirements of manufacturing and technological companies. Graduates will gain a profound engineering and economic understanding, will be qualified for numerous positions in a wide array of business areas and industries and will have competencies that enable them to understand technical and operational processes within the context of economic restrictions and challenges. This knowledge and understanding will allow graduates to shape the economic and technical framework of companies in their entirety.
The Industrial Engineering program in Recklinghausen distinguishes itself by providing not only theoretical knowledge but also practical application of what has been learned through project work.
In addition, the Campus of Recklinghausen offers an atmosphere that is conducive to all students, allowing all needs of the students to be addressed in a both focussed and individualized manner.

Study Focus
Engineering and Business
The objective of the program is to provide graduates with an integrated theoretical and applied education, equipping them with knowledge and competencies in engineering and business sciences. They should be able to independently apply scientific methods in a professional environment within companies across different industries and business sectors. The programme is particularly aligned with the requirements of manufacturing technology companies. Graduates possess the competencies that enable them to understand technical business processes in their economic contexts and actively contribute to shaping them as a whole. Optional specialization opportunities include "Automotive" and "Railway Transportation."
Merging of Business Administration and Technology
The programme imparts knowledge and skills in the core areas of engineering and natural sciences, business administration, as well as integrative areas that convey the interrelationship between technology and business. In addition to technical and scientific competencies, graduates are capable of clearly communicating subject matters and placing them in a societal and reflective context. In this context, the ability to apply modern information technologies is also emphasized.
Holistic Strategy Definition
By means of a scientifically methodological orientation of the degree programme, and complemented by supervised engineering and business practice phases as well as the completion of studies on the grounds of a final Bachelor’s thesis, graduates are qualified for a successful entry into professional life as well as for continuing their education in an advanced Master's programme. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme prepares graduates for diverse fields and areas of employment, enabling them to undertake tasks such as product and technical process development, organization and supervision of plant and production processes, quality assurance, or cost analysis and cost management of operational processes. They are equipped to assume leadership roles and enforce entrepreneurial decisions through their interdisciplinary training.
Career Prospects
As graduates of the Industrial Engineering and Management programme, you possess a versatile interdisciplinary education that qualifies you for employment in various industries. Industrial engineers and managers are needed wherever technology and business are closely interconnected. As an industrial engineer and manager, you bring the ability to think both cost-consciously and efficiently, and you are capable of addressing both technical and business-related challenges.
