Bachelor´s of Corporate Logistics

The interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree programme in Corporate Logistics – entirely held in German language - is predominantly application-oriented.

Graduates will be able to analyse, propose and evaluate technical and economic solutions independently in the field of corporate logistics. Supplementary skills, such as social, creative and design skills as well as foreign languages are given a high priority in the degree programme of Corporate Logistics.

Practical training for the challenges of modern logistics Corporate logistics involves managing the flow of goods and information beyond the boundaries of a company. The main tasks of corporate logistics are planning, coordinating, and controlling the value chain, enabling the efficient execution of necessary processes. Modern corporate logistics encompasses various fields, including global sourcing of raw materials, efficient production and storage of goods of all kinds, and customer-oriented delivery. Environmental aspects such as packaging reduction and CO2 savings are also exciting areas within corporate logistics.

The Campus in Recklinghausen offers an atmosphere that is conducive to all students, allowing all needs of the students to be addressed in a both focussed and individualized manner.

 

Structure and Content of the Study Program

Semesters 1-5: ‘Basic Modules’ and ‘Extension Modules’

To address the diverse topics of corporate logistics, the programme is interdisciplinary. The first five semesters cover current knowledge and skills in engineering, business administration, IT, and, of course, logistics. In addition to the mandatory modules, three elective modules can be chosen throughout the programme to focus on individual interests.

Semester 6: Practical phase

The sixth semester includes a practical phase in which the acquired knowledge can be practically applied and deepened within a company.

Semester 6: Bachelor’s thesis

The programme concludes with the completion of a practical or theoretical bachelor's thesis.

 

Study Focus

Managing complexity

The aim of the programme is to educate graduates who are capable of independently addressing complex tasks, as well as planning and controlling processes and systems of corporate logistics in a theory-driven and application-oriented manner. The programme is interdisciplinary and aligned with the requirements of companies that either require or provide corporate logistics services, particularly manufacturing companies, trade companies, and logistics service providers.

Methodology

Graduates gain comprehensive methodological competence in the field of corporate logistics. The programme emphasizes operational logistics processes and systems. Furthermore, fundamental knowledge in the areas of business administration, information technology, and engineering is acquired. In addition, specialized fields of intererst can be set individually through elective courses.

Application of cross-functional skills

Graduates can apply the acquired knowledge and skills to practical corporate logistics tasks and develop or advance problem solutions in their field of expertise. In addition to professional and scientific knowledge, the bachelor's programme also imparts cross-cutting qualifications such as social skills, communication skills and teamwork abilities, as well as the ability to contextualize and reflect on technical topics within society.

Practical Experience

Through the interdisciplinary nature of the programme, mandatory practical experience, and the completion of a scientific thesis, graduates are well-prepared for a successful entry into professional life or for further education in an advanced Master's programme.
