Bachelor´s of Building Service Engineering
The study program “Building Service Engineering” enables students to plan and operate technical systems related to buildings and properties. Further, the students are capable of developing appropriate solutions for the mentioned fields. Based on a broad engineering background, the students are able to identify and analyze complex problems and develop technical solutions. By using their commercial insights and knowledge they are qualified to evaluate the economic impact of their solutions. The methodologies to generate these solutions are based on scientific-technical competencies as well as personal competencies (soft skills) within a social and commercial framework. The students know both sets of competencies from theoretical and practical experience.
Structure and Content of the Study Program
The study program is offered in the following variants:
- undergraduate course (6 semesters)
- individual entry (7 semesters)
- training-integrated study (8 semesters)
- part-time study (8 semesters)
Whether heat or cold, water or electricity, transport of people and information - all this is Building Service Engineering. If you are interested in the following trades like heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology, sanitary and lighting technology then you have come to the right place. The supply of buildings and properties with electrical energy, heat, cold, water and gas is increasingly being processes with a high degree of automation. In view of the current energy prices, intelligent solutions for decentralized supply systems and implementation concepts for increasing energy efficiency while maintaining or even increasing comfort are becoming importance.
Study focus
The areas of work and fields of activity for Building Service Engineering are wide-ranging and require not only technical know-how but also the ability to analyzing complex interrelationships and develop viable solutions. In theory and practice you will deal with the planning of a wide range of Building Service Engineering in order to understand and evaluate them. You will become familiar with the most important components of these systems and their modes of operation and be able to understand the basic requirements when operating and maintaining the systems.
In the 7-semester study option, additional flex modules are offered in the first four semesters to assist in areas of low prior knowledge and lack of experience. The special feature of the training-integrated study variant is the interlocking of a vocational training ("apprenticeship") with our study program. Training companies cooperate with our University of Applied Sciences and grant freedom for a studies during and after the apprenticeship.
