Bachelor´s of Biomimetic

"What actually is biomimetic?" This is a question we biomimetics students (Bionikx) are often asked. In general, the principle can be explained quite simply: Solve technical problems with the help of animate nature.

One invention that originated in biomimetic, for example, is the Velcro fastener. We encounter them everywhere in everyday life: on shoes, jackets and even backpacks. Derived from the burdock fruits that got caught in the fur of his dog, the Swiss engineer Georges de Mestral invented the Velcro fastener. Bionikx are always inspired by their environment and surroundings.

With a mix of well-founded specialist knowledge and the many practical tasks, you will receive the optimal preparation for your future everyday working life. Through various projects, you will also learn social and personal skills that will facilitate interpersonal encounters in companies and the successful implementation of projects.

Regular studies or training-, practice-, occupation-integrated (dual variant)?

You have the choice! It is possible to obtain two degrees in 4 years (8 semesters) instead of a regular study program of 3 years. In addition to the academic degree Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Biomimetic, in this case you will also receive a vocational training. You can find out which vocational training is possible here.

A prerequisite for the dual option is a training company that will accompany you throughout your studies. This has several advantages, as your study financing and employment after graduation are mostly guaranteed. In this way, you study and work at the university and in the company on a pro rata basis. As a rule, attendance days at the university are two consecutive days per week. The dual variant of Biomimetic in Bocholt currently has no admission restrictions.

The bachelor's program in Biomimetic is a scientific program and therefore a Bachelor of Science. However, it also contains a lot of technical content, which is why you are allowed to use the title of engineer according to the state engineering law.
