Student facilities
There‘s a number of different facilities at our Campus Bocholt to make your stay at the Westfälische Hochschule Bocholt even more enjoyable.
Our campus is almost fully surrounded by a beautiful lake. Therefore, we offer you not only a space to study, but also a place to meet new people and enjoy your time as much as possible.
To take a break and gain some energy you can visit the food court with a daily changing and cheap but tasty menu with a lake view. Take a seat at the library right next to the food court to study or do some research in a peaceful and quite environment. The library is filled with books for every course, magazines and daily newspapers and you have the possibility to use the copier and the computers.
You can use your student ID to pay for everything, to borrow books as well as to pay for your food.
About Bocholt and its free time activities
The city of Bocholt is located in the beautiful region called the "Münsterland" right at the border with our neighboring country the Netherlands. It is especially famous for it‘s great bicycle ways and greenery. In fact, Bocholt's bicycle system is so impressive, that it won the AFDC award for the bicycle friendliest city 2019 in Germany.
Riding your bike or going for a walk is always an amazing option to discover the city and the surrounding areas of Bocholt. If you feel like doing something else, the city has a lot of cultural and social free time activities to offer such as:
- the beautiful Aasee, a lake with a sandy beach, swimming spots and many other facilities like BBQ spots & boat rental service
- the „Herbstkirmes“ (the "Autumn Funfare")
- the town festival
- many concerts & a variety of events
Besides, there are many cozy pubs and bars in the city. Your student tutors will show you the most interesting places to hang out!!!

Bocholt is located close to the famous region called „Ruhrgebiet“ surrounded by many other interesting towns like Bochum, Gelsenkirchen, Essen and Dortmund.
Even bigger cities such as Aachen and Münster, as well as vibrant metropoles such as Düsseldorf and Cologne are just one train ride away. The Netherlands can be reached within less than two hours.
With your semesterticket you can take any public transportation ride for free in NRW.
A spontaneous trip to another place is easy, very comfortable and exciting!
ASTA Events
The ASTA (The General Student Committee) also regularly organizes events and parties for students. Trips by bus or plane to major European cities such as Barcelona, Prague or Amsterdam are offered. And due to the fact that there is always a reason to celebrate, students organize pub crawls and barbecues throughout the year.
