In the region and for the region

Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences has been independent since 1992 and currently has approximately 6900 student enrolments.

The newly created sites at Bocholt / Ahaus and Recklinghausen each cater for about 1,500 to 2,000 students thus enriching the impressive quota of education and training opportunities on offer in the Ruhr Area.
The most recent campus in Ahaus is growing rapidly.

The northern Ruhr Area and the western Münsterland, both of which have been significantly affected by continuous structural change, are particularly well provided for by the four University sites.

Through its multifaceted range of specialist subjects, the University aims to guide and support the regions whilst taking into account the regions’ strengths and the characters of the people who live there.

The University education and research faculties maintain close contact with companies in the Emscher-Lippe Region and western Münsterland.
This regional approach has augmented the University’s international orientation and exchange programmes within Europe and the rest of the world.
